The Debouillet sheep is a breed of domestic sheep from United States. It was originated from Tatum, New Mexico.

It was actually developed by crossingDelaineandRambouillet sheepin the 1920s. Actually name of this breed is a portmanteau of these two ancestors.

Today the breed is raised mainly for wool production, and it is well adapted to the range conditions of the southwestern part of United States.

Debouillet Sheep Characteristics

The Debouillet sheep are medium to large sized animals. They have long and fine wool, and have white hair on the face and legs.

The rams may or many not have horns, but the ewes are always polled. As a medium to large sized animal, average live body weight of the mature Debouillet ewes is between 57 and 73 kg.

Mature ewe’s fleece will usually weight from 4.5 to 8.1 kg, with a 35 to 50 percent yield. The stable length of the fleece of the Debouillet sheep is from 3 to 5 inches with a numerical count of 62 to 80 which is 18.5 to 23.5 mm diameter.
