The Izumo Nankin goldfish originated from Japan, sometime between 1748 and 1750 in the area of modern-day Shimane Prefecture. It is a rare breed of goldfish and native to southwestern Japan.
Currently it is very difficult to source individuals outside it’s native country Japan. But it is commonly available there. There are many fanciers of this goldfish in Japan, with many clubs dedicated to it such as the中央南金爱好者协会.
The Izumo Nankin goldfish was developed from the Marco Goldfish, which is also an ancestor of the Ranchu. And in the year of 1982, it became a registered breed in Shimane Prefecture. Read some more information about this goldfish below.
